Summary of Job Responsibilities:

The Victim Services Advocate will help individuals who are at-risk. The Advocate is under the general supervision of the Tribal Administrator. The position works with other staff members of TeeJuh to provide appropriate services that conform to tribally established guidelines. In this role, you may be working with victims of child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, persons suffering with physical or mental illness, or community members dealing with substance use disorder or victims needing assistance in understanding medical procedures, services, and other health related matters. Applicants may be required to submit for a drug test. All applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for employment.

Outline of Essential Job Responsibilities/Functions Include but Are Not Limited To:

  • Work with Dot Lake Village staff to secure services.
  • Work with other organizations and agencies to provide services to victims.
  • Investigate and establish in-person or telehealth services.
  • Keep track of cases, assistance, and data in a highly confidential manner.

Communication:

  • Communicate in a clear and professional manner with victims/clients.
  • Communicate with health professionals from agencies providing services.
  • Serve as liaison with state health offices.
  • Serve as liaison with Medicare & Medicaid officials.
  • Share and receives information, opinions, concerns, and feedback with council.
  • Work collaboratively by building bridges and creating rapport with team members, tribal organizations, and entities on the state and federal level.
  • Work effectively with others as a member of a team.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of victim’s services and programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the community including cultural values and beliefs, history, and family systems.
  • Energetic, forward thinking, and creative with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, write reports, and make informed recommendations on clients’ well-being.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate verbally in a professional manner.
